Present Scenario of UESI-TN GCR - By Johnny Lee E.

Consolidation on Present Scenario of UESI-TN GCR based on feedback gathered at the SU campsite

Consolidated by Johnny Lee. E

Needs at the Grass roots level Students Ministry:
  • Need to regularize and strengthen the time of fellowship on a regular basis ensuring that student-graduate interaction takes place. We need to be regular to fellowships and fasting prayers.
  • Need to help student leaders by mentoring them personally.
  • Need to encourage students to write real life incidents and success stories. This will encourage and impact students who read Madras Link.
  • Need to pray for student leaders and the student ministry specifically. Need to nurture students by continual and systematic teaching of the Word of God. Need to attend Personal prayers, EGF meetings, and regular fellowships.
  • Need to set up libraries in each area so students will be able to access and read good spiritual books.
  • Need to give personal care by visiting students at their homes and hostels. This is the need of the hour.
  • Need to identify the ‘real needs’ of the students. This will result in a radical change in our sessions and programs. We need to talk on priorities, relationships, and excelling in studies.
  • Need to give clarity on roles and responsibilities of committee members and graduate leaders.
  • Need to bring out ‘relevant’ tracts and handouts for Personal evangelism as well as teaching.

Needs for Graduates Ministry
  • Need to strengthen area fellowships, prayer cells, and home cells by meeting regularly and periodically.
  • Need to teach and foster “interest groups” on cell care, personal visits, music, mentoring, and planning of camps and retreats.
  • Need to help our graduates overcome their multiple pressures by using SWOT analysis.
  • Need to have regular ‘quality’ teaching and sharing in the EGF cells. A person who attends must come away having learnt something!
  • Need to care for our graduates and support them. This will result in them involving in the ministry regularly.
  • Need to help our graduates realize that their every sacrifice is an eternal investment in the lives of our student leaders.
  • Need to man our graduate and student committees with people who are gifted to that particular role. This will ensure maximum returns from that committee.

3.. Need to Explore new avenues of ministry:
  • Need to reach out to day scholar students who are residing in Chennai, visit their families, and build up rapport. These students will stay on in our city and continue as productive graduates.
  • Need to explore various avenues and opportunities to partner with churches and like-minded organizations. EU is para-church and needs to work hand-in-hand with the church.
  • Need to study in detail the various student trends and give valuable inputs to enable us to form new strategies in reaching them for Christ.

A lady was upset because her mother-in-law forgot to ask her to a family picnic. So when she was invited on the morning of the event she replied angrily, “It's too late, I've already prayed for rain!”

Ernest Hemingway tells the story of a father and his teenaged son Paco (a very common name) who lived in Spain. Their relationship fell apart and the son ran away from home. After some years the father began searching for his lost and rebellious boy by putting an ad in a Madrid newspaper. The ad simply read, 'Dear Paco, meet me in front of the Madrid newspaper office tomorrow at noon. All is forgiven. I love you.' The next day at noon, in front of the newspaper office, there were 800 Pacos all seeking forgiveness!

One night after preaching about forgiveness, Corrie Ten Boom recognized that the man approaching her was a former guard from Ravensbruck, the Nazi prison camp where she was tortured and her sister Betsie starved to death. When he asked her to forgive him, Corrie thought about Betsie and felt she couldn't do it. Nevertheless she knew she must, otherwise everything she'd preached would be meaningless. So she told God, 'I can extend my hand, I can do that much but You'll have to supply the feelings.' Taking the man's hand she felt God's power rushing through her, enabling her to wholeheartedly say, 'I forgive you, brother.'

Corrie never experienced God's love as intensely as she did that night. Although she'd been badly tortured, she let God heal her, and then went on to help others. The truth is that forgiveness is the only way to have peace! Who do you need to forgive today?

'Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy' (Matthew 5:7 NIV).

Meet you there!

Believers Meet, 2009 --- Countdown 1

Calling all South Area Graduates and Students.

Please keep the first weekend of September free for BELIEVERS MEET, 2009.

We will let you know ASAP whether it will be the Saturday 5 Sept, or Sunday 6 Sept. This date will, of course, depend on the availability of students.

We plan to have a great gathering in of all our EU and EGF family. Please come. Bless us and be blessed in turn.

One request, if you know people from your college days who used to attend EU gatherings but have now stopped, please go to them and invite them to attend.

We will pray that as a result of this meeting God will re-ignite in us the passion to reach out to College students of this day and age!

They need our help as we need them to stay in touch with what we believe in!

Keep looking at this page for Countdown 2

Rebuking the devourer

'"Bring the whole tithe...and I will rebuke the devourer...he shall not destroy...' (Malachi 3:11).

'What's the devourer?' you ask. Anything that devours your blessings.

The dishwasher breaks down for the third time in a month. The kids are ill and have to be taken to the doctor all the time. The day after the warranty runs out on your car, the transmission goes.

One of the Hebrew words for tithe is charam, which means 'marked for destruction.' Your tithe literally becomes a force in the hand of God to destroy the works of the enemy who devours your blessings. It puts a hedge of protection around you.

The top 10% of your income belongs to God; end of discussion! Giving God the first tenth of your income demonstrates that He's first in your life. Tithing isn't the church's way of raising its budget; it's God's way of raising His children.

'Is God after my money?' you ask. No, He's after your lack! He wants you to be blessed and protected every day of your life.

As a tithe leaves your hand on its way to God, a harvest leaves His hand on its way back to you. God’s challenge to you today is 'Test Me in this' (Malachi 3:10 NIV).

“William Colgate was a tither throughout his long and successful business career. He gave not only one-tenth of the earnings of Colgate’s soap products; but he gave two-tenths, then three-tenths, and finally five-tenths of all his income to the work of God in the world.

William Colgate died in 1857 but left behind a company that is successful to this day, and a college that bears his name.

Next time you brush your teeth, remember Colgate’s testimony!

Sunday Mornings!

Ever wonder why Sundays are a drag at home?

Why there does not seem to be much enthusiasm in the family for getting ready for church?

The video clip below could answer some of your questions. Just click on the link below or copy-paste the link into your browser. The silent video clip is based on James chapter 3.

AND prepare to be blown off!
